Florence's life
Florence Nightingale was born May 12 1820 in Florence, Italy. Florence was the second of two daughters and was very smart. She loved to write. She traveled during the summer time with her family and she was named after her birthplace along with her sister. Then in 1837 she got a call from go telling her to do something amazing. Some of her largest accomplishments were helping people in wars because she was a nurse and loved to help others. Another accomplishment was meeting Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Her largest obstacle was most likely the Crimean war where she got seriously ill with Crimean fever from drinking contaminated milk which was in 1854. Another obstacle was when she came back from England and suffered the effects of brucellosis and exhaustion.
Lady with the lamp
She is an important women in history because she saved many people in the war. she was known as the lady with the lamp because she walked around at night with a lamp to watch over everyone.At the age of 90 in 1910 on August 13th she passed away and went down in history. Now in London there is a Florence Nightingale museum and inernational nurses day is celebrated on her birthday each year. Many, many hospitals, airplanes, and schools are named after her or in her memory.
